Summary

TranSystems is seeking a Roadway Project Engineer responsible for the design and preparation of plan submittals related to highway and arterial roadway design, complex intersection design, local roadways, site design, bridge replacement/rehabilitation, traffic design, drainage design for various agencies. 

 

General Duties & Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Perform engineering tasks related to the planning and design of transportation facilities such as freeways, arterials, intersections, railroad and drainage. Be part of a Design Team that produces plans, specifications, cost estimates and schedules for transportation construction projects. Duties include preparing engineering reports, performing engineering calculations and analysis and furnishing technical documentation for design projects. Works tasks generally pertain to planning and design functions for highways, arterials, traffic, drainage and site design. Attendance at meetings and interaction with clients should be expected. Effective written and oral communication skills are imperative.
  2. Work with or preferably lead the design team in completion of technical efforts of other team members in the completion of design projects including roadway, traffic, drainage and site design projects and reports.
  3. Assist or preferably lead the project management of projects both technically and financially to meet the clients expectations in completing quality projects on-time and on budget.
  4. Answer any questions and review shop drawings during the construction phase of the project.
  5. Participate in business development activities.

Education/Experience – Bachelor’s degree in the engineering field (i.e. Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Electrical) required with 4 years of design experience preferred.

 

Computer Skills - Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and various engineering software systems depending on engineering discipline: AutoCAD; MicroStation/GeoPak; In Roads, Land Desktop, and Civil 3D.

 

Certificates and Licenses – Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, construction and field assignments can be severe (i.e. Airport noise, inside factories, construction equipment, jack hammers, etc).
